Shah Rukh Khan and Ed Sheeran took the internet by storm as they recreated the Bollywood superstar’s iconic pose, leaving fans gushing over the moment. The Grammy Award-winning singer is all set to perform the last leg of his famous ‘+–=÷× Tour’ in Mumbai this weekend.

Ed Sheeran, 33, has been spending time in the country dancing with various B-Town celebs on popular songs.

“The Shape of You” hitmaker has shared a video on Instagram in which he can be seen alongside Shah Rukh Khan, recreating the Jawan star’s signature pose as the popular track Deewangi Deewangi from the 2007 film Om Shanti Om plays in the background.

“This is the Shape of Us. Spreading love together,” he wrote in the caption.

In the video, Ed Sheeran is seen following Shah Rukh Khan and acting the pose. Towards the end, Shah Rukh Khan is seen leaning towards him, seemingly giving him a hug and a forehead kiss. However, the video was cut in between before the moment could play out.

Why did they cut the kiss in the end?” one person wrote in the comment section. Another one added, “What a crossover!”

A third person wrote, “Love Ed’s dancing as much as his singing!”

Om Shanti Om director Farah Khan also shared the video on Instagram and wrote, “When u get to direct Ed Sheeran & Shahrukh Khan u get? …. #SherKhan of course @iamsrk @teddysphotos”

Earlier on Tuesday, Sheeran visited a school in Mumbai and shared a video of the same on the social media site. “Visited a school in Mumbai this morning and swapped performances with the kids, so much fun. Great being back in India too,” he wrote.

Sheeran earlier visited the country in 2017 for his first-ever India concert. Back then, he partied with several Bollywood celebrities and shared photographs on social media.

As per his official tour site, Sheeran is slated to perform at the Mahalaxmi Race Course in Mumbai on Saturday, March 16.

BTS member Kim Taehyung or V,  has made a comeback with his new solo song, ‘FRI(END)S,’ which is his first project after finishing his military duty.

The track, which came out on Friday, March 15, has a smooth blend of pop, soul, and R&B, highlighting V’s calming voice and a gentle beat. Sung entirely in English, the song beautifully conveys the desire for a friendship to evolve into something deeper.

Before joining the military, V had hinted at his upcoming music, assuring fans that he had prepared many surprises for them during his absence.

On March 3, Sunday, the K-pop superstar announced that his next single, ‘FRI(END)S,’ will be released on March 15. Through lyrics, written entirely in English, the song “rooted in the pop-soul R&B genre”, delivers relatable and witty romance, a statement by Big Hit Music read.

Last Saturday, a teaser of the much-anticipated track was shared on BTS’ official Instagram handle. The clip also featured V, who made his solo debut in 2023 with the album ‘Layover’, which included songs like ‘Love Me Again,’ ‘Rainy Days’ and ‘Slow Dancing.’

On December 11, 2023, V started his mandatory military service alongside another BTS member RM. The duo completed their basic military training, graduating with distinction on January 16. Not just that, V also earned the ‘elite’ soldier rank for his outstanding performance during the five-week training programme.

On January 18, the K-pop superstar was spotted, in military attire, boarding a train headed to Jonghaenggyo Bridge. V was carrying a backpack on his shoulder and another military bag in hand.

In a lease of life for the INDIA front, a deal has been struck between the Samajwadi Party and Congress on one hand and the Aam Aadmi Party and Congress on the other. But the clincher was the Grand Old Party accepting the fact that it would not be stubborn and was ready to climb down.

Let’s first look at the SP-Congress talks. It took three meetings, a defiant SP and the exit of RLD for the Congress to realise that it would have to be realistic and ready to bend. While Akhilesh Yadav had assured the Congress that he would join the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra in either Amethi or Raebareli, he skipped it, upsetting the Congress. To make it worse, Yadav said he would join the Yatra only after seat sharing was cleared. He went a step ahead and announced tickets for 11 seats — two of them being those on which Congress had to fight.

Concertgoers who ‘had to get up early to go to work’ sue Madonna for starting the show late

KV Prasad Jun 13, 2022, 06:35 AM IST (Published)

Listen to the Article (6 Minutes)

Summary

In their lawsuit, Madonna’s fans have claimed that the show was advertised to start at 8.30 PM, but the pop sensation did not take the stage until after 10.30 PM.

‘Queen of Pop’ Madonna has been sued by two of her fans for starting her concert two hours late. In their lawsuit filed on Wednesday in Brooklyn federal court, the fans claimed that they “had to get up early to go to work” the next day, The Guardian reported.

As per the lawsuit, Michael Fellows and Jonathan Hadden bought tickets for a 13 December show of the 65-year-old singer at the Barclays Center in New York. Madonna performed at the venue as part of her Celebration tour.

They have claimed that the show was advertised to start at 8.30 PM local time, however, Madonna was late by around two hours. The singer did not take the stage until after 10.30 PM.

Fellows and Hadden could only manage to leave the venue after 1 AM and by that time they were “left stranded in the middle of the night” and were “confronted with limited public transportation, limited ride-sharing, and/or increased public and private transportation costs,” the lawsuit states.

It has further been alleged that since the weeknight show finished late in the night, it affected their ability to “take care of their family responsibilities the next day”.

“In addition, many ticketholders who attended concerts on a weeknight had to get up early to go to work and/or take care of their family responsibilities the next day,” they said.

Madonna, Barclays Center, and tour promoter Live Nation have been accused of “unconscionable, unfair, and/or deceptive trade practices” for starting the concert late.

Fellows and Hadden stated in their lawsuit that this constitutes a breach of contract and “a wanton exercise in false advertising”.

As per the lawsuit, Madonna started her concerts at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center in December after 10:30 pm on all three nights (December 13, 14 and 16, 2023), even when the tickets advertised that it would start at 8:30 PM, CNN reported.

The Brooklyn concerts constituted the beginning of the North American leg of the singer’s Celebration tour.

The shows were originally scheduled to be held in July 2023, however, they were rescheduled as Madonna was hospitalised in June 2023 after developing a serious bacterial infection.

Through the lawsuit, the concertgoers are seeking class action status for attendees of other shows of the Celebration tour which started late.

Delhi High Court issues summons to Netflix, co-producer of film ‘Animal’ on plea to restrain OTT release

KV Prasad Jun 13, 2022, 06:35 AM IST (Published)

Listen to the Article (6 Minutes)

Summary

The high court issued summons to Super Cassettes Industries Pvt Ltd, a co-producer of the film, and Cluver Max Entertainment Pvt Ltd (formerly known as Sony Pictures Networks Ltd) with whom an agreement was signed for granting of satellite rights of the film.

The Delhi High Court has issued summons to Super Cassettes and Netflix on a plea by Cine 1 Studios, a co-producer of Bollywood film “Animal”, seeking to restrain the release of the movie on digital streaming platforms and its satellite broadcast. The movie, directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, was released in theatres on December 1, 2023 and is set to be released on Netflix on January 26.

Justice Sanjeev Narula said the three defendants shall also file affidavits of admission or denial of the documents produced by the plaintiff, without which their written statements will not be taken on record.

Thus, let the plaint be registered as a suit. Issue summons, the high court said in its order passed on Thursday. While Cine 1 Studios Pvt Ltd claimed a breach of agreement and said it was not paid a single penny, Super Cassettes contended Rs 2.6 crore was paid to the plaintiff which it did not disclose to the court.

However, Cine 1’s counsel argued that the document shown in this regard was allegedly ex-facie forged and fabricated. The high court listed the matter before the Joint Registrar for completion of pleadings and marking of exhibits on March 15 and made clear that any party unjustifiably denying documents would be liable to be burdened with costs.

Regarding the plaintiff’s interim plea seeking a stay of the release of the movie on OTT platforms, digital and satellite platforms, the high court asked the defendants to file their replies January 20 and listed it for hearing submissions on January 22. Senior advocate Sandeep Sethi, representing Cine 1 Studios, has said the plaintiff did not get any information about the revenue the film earned, its collection at the box office, the music, satellite or internet rights.

They (Super Cassettes) have been collecting all the money but I have not been paid a single penny… I have a long relationship with them but they have no respect for the agreement. I had regard for the relationship and the sanctity of the contract, therefore, I did not rush to court, he has submitted. The plaint said the two production houses had entered into an agreement to produce the film. Under the agreement, Cine 1 claimed, it had a 35 per cent profit share and was entitled to 35 per cent intellectual property rights in the movie.

The plaint claimed without Cine 1’s approval, Super Cassettes incurred expenses for making/promoting/ releasing the film, received revenues from the box office sales but did not share the details with it. Super Cassettes also did not pay any money to the plaintiff despite the profit-share agreement. it claimed. Senior advocate Amit Sibal, representing Super Cassettes, has submitted that the plaintiff invested no money in the film and all expenses were borne by his client.

Apprising the judge of a document signed between the parties, he has contended the plaintiff concealed from the court that on August 2, 2022 it had given up all its intellectual property rights on the film. In the amended agreement, he (Cine 1) has deleted the clause where he got 35 per cent of intellectual property right in the film…. All this has been given up for consideration of Rs 2.6 crore for which he raised an invoice, Sibal has said.

He has said this critical and material information was concealed from the court.

‘Oppenheimer’ and ‘Poor Things’ lead the race for Britain’s BAFTA film awards

KV Prasad Jun 13, 2022, 06:35 AM IST (Published)

Listen to the Article (6 Minutes)

Summary

Other leading contenders include French courtroom drama “Anatomy of a Fall,” boarding school comedy “The Holdovers” and Leonard Bernstein biopic “Maestro,” with seven nominations each. Grief-flecked love story “All of Us Strangers” was nominated in six categories and class-war dramedy “Saltburn ” in five.

Atom-bomb epic “Oppenheimer” leads the race for the British Academy Film Awards, with nominations in 13 categories including best film — eight more than its box-office rival, “Barbie.”

Gothic fantasia “Poor Things” received 11 nominations on the list announced Thursday, while historical epic “Killers of the Flower Moon” and Holocaust drama “ The Zone of Interest” had nine each.

“ Barbie,” one half of 2023’s “Barbenheimer” box office juggernaut, also got five nominations, but missed out on nods for best picture and best director.

The winners will be announced at a Feb. 18 ceremony at London’s Royal Festival Hall hosted by “Doctor Who” star David Tennant.

The prizes — officially called the EE BAFTA Film Awards — are Britain’s equivalent of Hollywood’s Academy Awards and will be watched closely for hints of who may win at the Oscars on March 10.

The best film race pits “Oppenheimer” against “Poor Things,” “Killers of the Flower Moon,” “Anatomy of a Fall” and “The Holdovers.”

“Poor Things” is also on the 10-strong list for the separate category of best British film, an eclectic slate that includes “Saltburn,” imperial epic “Napoleon,” south London romcom “Rye Lane” and chocolatier origin story “Wonka,” among others.

The best leading actor nominees are Bradley Cooper for “Maestro,” Colman Domingo for “Rustin,” Paul Giamatti for “The Holdovers,” Barry Keoghan for “Saltburn,” Teo Yoo for “Past Lives” and Cillian Murphy for “Oppenheimer.”

“Oppenheimer” also received nominations for supporting performers Emily Blunt and Robert Downey Jr., as well as for Christopher Nolan’s direction and screenplay.

“I couldn’t be happier that the British Academy recognized so many of my collaborators on ‘Oppenheimer,’ especially Chris Nolan,” Murphy said. “Working on the film was an experience I’ll never forget.”

The best leading actress contenders are Fantasia Barrino for “The Color Purple,” Sandra Hüller for “Anatomy of a Fall,” Carey Mulligan for “Maestro,” Vivian Oparah for “Rye Lane,” Margot Robbie for “Barbie” and Emma Stone for “Poor Things.”

Harrowing Ukraine war documentary “20 Days in Mariupol,” produced by The Associated Press and PBS “Frontline,” is nominated for best documentary and best film not in the English language.

Britain’s film academy introduced changes to increase the awards’ diversity in 2020, when no women were nominated as best director for the seventh year running and all 20 nominees in the lead and supporting performer categories were white.

The voting process was rejigged to add a longlist round in the selection before the final nominees are voted on by the academy’s 8,000-strong membership of industry professionals.

Under the new rules, the director longlist had equal numbers of male and female filmmakers, but there is only one woman among the six best-director nominees, Justine Triet for “Anatomy of a Fall.” She is up against Andrew Haigh for “All of Us Strangers,” Alexander Payne for “The Holdovers,” Bradley Cooper for “Maestro,” Christopher Nolan for “Oppenheimer” and Jonathan Glazer for “The Zone of Interest.” “Barbie” director Greta Gerwig was a notable omission, as was “Saltburn”’s Emerald Fennell.

Fennell said thatshe was just happy “there are so many women making such exquisite, beautiful work this year.”

“The breadth from ‘Barbie’ to ‘Past Lives’ to ‘Anatomy of a Fall’ to ‘Saltburn’ — these films are all of them so different, and so beautiful,” she told The Associated Press

“That is huge to me personally, to see all of these incredible women making such incredible work. That’s the thing that I hope that young women and girls will look and see.”

BAFTA chair Sara Putt said that she was proud of the academy’s work on diversity, but “the playing field is not level.”

“We’re coming at this from a world that is not fair, in that sense,” she said. “For every one film made by a woman, there are three films made by a man.

“So there’s a really long journey to go on.”
